Earlier this week we were asked to provide assistance in the search for missing Stockton man Alan Smith. Mr Smith had gone missing the day before and his vehicle had been located nearby a few hours prior to our search. The police and coastguard were covering a variety of zoned areas and we provided some drone assistance over an area of terrain that was too dangerous to search on foot.
Unfortunately during the search process a body was located adjacent to the search area. Although formal identification hasn’t been confirmed we are aware Mr Smith’s family have been informed. We would like to pass our condolences to the family and friends of Mr Smith at this most difficult of times. It was a very sad day and not the outcome that we had all hoped for.
Here is not the place to discuss the operational role of UAV’s in SAR and at this point we will sign off. Once again RIP Alan from what we have read and heard you were a much loved and well thought of man.
